Jana Belschner is a PhD candidate at the Department of Comparative Politics at the University of Bergen. Her research interests cover the fields of gender & diversity in politics, the institutional dynamics of democratization processes, and political parties in European and Northern African countries. In her previous work, she had a special focus on local politics & governance. In her PhD project, Jana Belschner explores the adoption and implementation of gender and youth quotas in Tunisia and Ireland by focusing on the impact of financial penalties on political parties' recruitment and nomination practices.
