This year’s light show is a revised, extended, and updated version of the show that was presented during the reopening of the University Museum in 2019.

The light show is part of the University of Bergen's (UiB) and the University Museum's 200th anniversary celebration.

What is a 3D light show?

During the show, you will see how lights and digital effects transform the building into a visual journey through the museum's history.

Through specially crafted projections, illusions of depth, movement, and texture are created, bringing the museum building to life in a dramatic way. You will see various examples of some of the many treasures from the museum’s rich collections in natural history and cultural history over 200 years.

What can you experience?

The light show, one of the largest of its kind in Norway, lasts around 15 minutes and is suitable for all ages.

Godt Brød café will be open on Saturday and Sunday during the museum's opening hours.

Free admission to the museum

You can also combine it with a visit to the museum to see the new permanent exhibition "Bare Bein" (Just Bones), which opens on January 24. In this exhibition, you can experience skeletons up close, from the largest in the animal kingdom to the tiniest.

(Maximum capacity in the museum is 700 people. We appreciate that you do not bring large backpacks/bags into the museum this evening)

Don’t miss this unique experience that will brighten up Bergen’s winter darkness. We promise you many “wow experiences”, so put on warm (and waterproof) clothes and bring your camera!

The light show is designed by Kolibri Media, with original music composed by Kjetil Fluge, and produced by Kulturoperatørene.
