Course description

Objectives and Content

The aim of the course is to prepare students for work on their individual master's project and to familiarize the students with their peers and workshop-possibilities. Through various playful workshops the students individual project ideas will be viewed and elaborated on in different perspectives to inspire and motivate towards unlocking the potential of each project.¿

The students are expected to make an outline of their project theme and topics, establish an overview of knowledge areas and to map fields of investigation relevant to their project. The student should convey an understanding of specific investigations and precision of the further project work, in order to uncover, clarify, expand or refine key questions.¿¿

The students will be provided with optional workshop introductions and HSE certification.¿

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the subject the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills, and general competence:

Knowledge:

  • Identify and highlight themes and subject areas relevant to their project
  • Define context and specialization based on project description

Skills:¿

  • Structure and make a preliminary project plan
  • Sketch a map of research (project) topics and themes

General competence:¿

  • The student will be able to identify and outline the components in their own design project¿
  • The student shall be able to document and convey specialized design work at a high level
  • The student will be able to initiate and manage independent work and progress

Folder/portfolio assessment:

  • Visual documentation
  • Reflection component consisting of visual, written or relevant materials that elaborates on - and contextualizes design choices and process.
