Course description
Objectives and Content
This course introduces the students to the process of research through design and design through research,¿and aims to help further develop the student´s project work by clarifying, expanding, or delimiting key issues in design as research. The course includes an introduction to artistic research in the design field as well as various methods and contexts.¿
The course will have modules with lectures, discussions, presentations, workshops, group work and individual assignments.¿¿
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the subject the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills, and general competence:
Knowledge:
- Will know about relations between practices, investigation, and exploration within the context of design research.
- Knowledge about various research methodologies, methods and approaches (designerly, artistical and scholarly)¿
Skills:¿
- Will be able to identify and analyze different approaches within design research.¿
- Will be able to develop and express design issues and questions.
- Will be able to apply relevant strategies and methodological approaches¿¿
General competence:¿
- Will be able to assess and apply relevant research approaches within a design project.¿
