Course description

Objectives and Content

The course aims to further develop the student´s own master project, with particular emphasis on deepening inquiries, conceptualization and presentation.

During the course the student will elaborate on the core, processes and contexts of their master project through specialized design work. The students will deepen their focus and map out their project and its wider relation to the field.¿ The students are expected to conceptualize their project materially and visually, and to begin developing a reflective component relative to their project and professional field.¿

The course consists of specialized group workshops, individual project work and tutoring.¿

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the subject the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills, and general competence:

Knowledge:

  • The student shall be able to document and summarize specialized design work at a high level¿
  • Specialized practical and theoretical knowledge relevant to your project¿
  • Understanding of field specific design-theoretical, cultural and social contexts¿¿

Skills:¿

  • Ability to contextualize experiments and assess progress in own development work.¿
  • Ability to conceptualize (materially and visually) design ideas at a high level.¿
  • Demonstrate advanced rhetorical skills in relation to design work (implicitly and explicitly).¿

General competence:¿

  • Be able to take independent decisions and make necessary delimitations in own project.¿
  • Interpret and reflect on specialized and field specific research in context of individual design project.¿

Compulsory assignment and attendance listed above must be approved for the student to enter the exam.

Forms of Assessment

The following form of assessment are used in this course:¿

Folder/portfolio assessment. The folder must contain:

  • Visual documentation
  • Reflection consisting of visual, written or relevant materials that elaborates on - and contextualizes design choices and process.
