Course description
Objectives and Content
Objectives:
The course goal is to give an overview of the concepts of Information and Computer Security, with an emphasis on fundamental security properties, vulnerabilities, threats, and mechanisms for securing ICT systems.
Content:
Fundamentals:
- Security properties, tools, and terminology
- User Authentication, methods, and principles
- Access Control, principles, and the role of access control
Computer Security:
In particular, malicious software: types, propagation, together with technical, organisational, and behavioural countermeasures.
Network Security:
In particular, the Internet, network-based attack, and an overview of countermeasures to network-based attacks.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the student must have the following learning outcome defined in knowledge, skills, and general competence:
