About the institution:
While the term “fylke” (county) denotes the geographical area, “fylkeskommune” (county council) is the democratically elected regional government that provides a wide range of public welfare services. Norway's public sector is comprised of three levels: the national government, the county councils (regional level) and the municipalities (local level).
Vestland County Council (VCC) aims to ensure the development of Vestland as an attractive and innovative region. Vestland County Council is responsible for regional planning, political leadership, upper secondary education, economic development and innovation, public health, dental care, societal inclusion, roads and public transport and cultural heritage, arts and sports. VCC and international cooperation
All county departments at the county council are engaged in international activities. Targeted and systematic focus on knowledge sharing and competence development ensures that the county of businesses and citizens of Vestland possesses the competence and skills the region needs.
Our toolbox is diverse: EU-projects and mobilities, (political and thematic) networks, regional collaboration and exchanges, Invest in Vestland, etc. West Norway Office is our regional office located in Norway House in Brussels. VCC is also member of several European organisations: Conference of Peripheral and Maritime Regions (CPMR), Nordsjøkommisjonen (NSC), Euromontana (European Association of Mountain Areas) and EARLALL (The European Association of Regional and Local Authorities for Lifelong Learning).
Our NPI department has the overall responsibility for VCC’s International Strategy and NPI- Internationalisation Team coordinates its implementation.
Your tasks during the internship in the Internationalisation Team:
- A good understanding of EU affairs is important for the development of our region. We want our intern to write a report on one of the following topics, with a special focus on the impact on the implications for the region Vestland and the municipalities:
- Clean Industrial Deal
- Union of Skills
- Affordable Energy Action Plan
- Relevant EU-topic of your own choice
- Assist in EU-project coordination and development
- Make a Norwegian-English glossary
- Other pending activities
