Here you can read today's newspapers

If you are connected to the UiB network, you can read around 1,000 Norwegian and foreign newspapers.

Main content

Library Press Display

On the PressReader website, you'll find around 1,700 international newspapers from almost 100 countries in 50 different languages. Through a simple search system, you can search for keywords in the news, or read newspapers from a particular country. You will find six French newspapers, three from Lebanon and around 40 from the UK on the site.

All the newspapers are in PDF format, and are displayed in full format, so you can read just as you would a normal newspaper.

The service is free and available from all machines connected to UiB's network. If you work on a PC outside UiB's network, you must first connect to it by setting up a VPN connection.

Atekst

At Atekst, you can search through decades of archives of Norwegian newspapers. The platform is not designed to read PDF editions in the same way as in Library Press Display, but the articles there are equivalent to those that have been in print. Here you can also search for online articles.

Atekst is perhaps particularly suitable for researchers who want to look for coverage of their subject area (in Norwegian), but it can also function as an experimental toy. Among other things, the search function has a statistics function, which shows how many times a word or phrase is mentioned in the Norwegian press over time.
