The Norwegian ParkWest study is a prospective longitudinal multicenter cohort study of patients with incident Parkinson’s disease (PD) from Western and Southern Norway. Between November 1st 2004 and 31st of August 2006 they sought to recruit all new cases of Parkinson Disease within the study area, and since the start of the study they have followed 212 of 265 (80 %) of these patients and their age-/sex-matched control group.

The Parkinson study group works closely together with the research group on genetic and basic/pathology research in PD at Haukeland.
