Seminar, Supervision Forum for PhD supervisors 20.04.2022
Welcome to the Supervision Forum for PhD supervisors at the Faculty of Social Sciences!
Main content
The next edition of SV’s Supervisors’ Forum will take place on 20 April 14.00-15.30. The topic for this forum is "What does training in research ethics entail?"
PhD candidates are expected to receive adequate training in research ethics during their study. There is no consensus on the range and scope of research ethics. However, the national research ethics committees in Norway have typically distinguished between three distinct fields: research integrity; protection of the rights of research subjects; and the social responsibilities of research. In which ways may research ethics enter as issues and aspects of PhD supervision?
In this seminar, Roger Strand (SVT) will give a brief introduction to the field and share some observations from his experience with ethics training for PhD supervisors.
Initial Speaker: Roger Strand (Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities)
Moderator: Synnøve Bendixsen (Head of Department, Social Anthropology)
The seminar will be held in English.
Location: Lauritz Meltzers hus (SV-bygget): Room 904
Welcome!
