"The Raisina-IE Student Challenge was an incredible learning experience. I had the opportunity to engage with fellow students from around the world and listen to top political leaders addressing today’s most pressing global issues. The experience has also strengthened my view on the importance of Norwegian participation in multilateral forums"- Master student Elisa Parnefält Størksen.
The international challenge, held during the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi, is organized by ORF and IE-University. The Raisina Global Student Challenge is linked to the Raisna Summit, the worlds´largest international summit on geopolitics where leaders from across the participate.
The theme of this year's student challenge "Building Bridges: Mitigating the North-South Divide," gathered 60 students from 60 nations competing to develop policy proposals on global issues. Among these students, one of our own MA student in Politics and Governance of Global Challenges, Elisa Parnefält Størksen was the first to ever represent Norway in this international challenge. Elisa is now in her last year and will finish her thesis this Spring. Since mid-February, she has worked with three other students from different countries to address the lack of enforcement mechanisms in climate change mitigation. Together with her group they became the runner-ups in the international challenge.
Lise Rakner, program coordinator comments: We thank the Norwegian Embassy in India for the invitation to nominate a student. Despite an exceedingly short deadline, we received 10 applications from political science master students at UiB and Elisa was nominated as Norway´s very first representative. Competing in an international challenge on solving global challenges sounds like a great task for a master student of the Department´s new master program Politics and Governance of Global Challenges- and thanks to Elisa´s great efforts- we are fairly hopeful that we get to nominate a student in 2026 as well!
Congratulations to Elisa and her team on this achievement!
