Research

My Artistic Research project is situated in the field of Traditional music in Norway and Sweden and focuses on the exploration of the melodeon and interplay with dancers. These topics are investigated through the development of new interpretations of tunes in both the Vestland region and in the border region between Norway and Sweden (Hedmark/Värmland), new compositions and interplay with traditional dancers, both solo and in two different project duos with Jeanette Evansson (fiddle, Hardanger fiddle), Jonas Åkerlund (fiddles, guitars) and in workshops with dancers. The activities related to these elements continually inform each other. This prosject examines qualities in interplay where knowledge about the different tune traditions makes the ground for the dynamics and communication between the musician and dancers.
