The start of your studies is full of new information, new people, and many impressions! It’s both fun and exciting, but it’s also completely normal to feel a bit overwhelmed at the beginning. You might be worried about missing important information, or perhaps you’ve moved to a completely new and unfamiliar city. No need to worry - you will be well received with us.
What happens when the welcome week start? Program for you starting your master’s studies
Welcome meetings and lectures
The welcome meetings and lectures for the different masters programmes starts Monday the 12th of August or later. You'll find the information of starting date on the website of your study programme. Further information regarding lectures is found by opening the course site and click "Schedule" in the upper right.
Mentor week for master’s students
Even though several study programmes starts later than Monday the 12th of August, you're more than welcome to join the mentor week for master students starting that day. Links to the program of the mentor week will be published here soon.
Student Life Day at psykfak
Time: Thursday, 15th of August, from 11:30 to 12:30.
Place: Dialogen, Christies gate 12.
Are you interested in the student organizations? The student environment at the faculty offers activities related to student politics, social events, academics, sports, and culture, something for everyone! They will be available at the square in Dialogen ready for a chat!
If you need to chat with your student advisor, they are available for drop-in guidance and can help you with semester registration. Perfect to combine with the student fair in Grieghallen afterwards.

| Monday, 12 August, at 10:00 – 10:45: Welcome Ceremony. UiB marks the start of a new academic year at UiB with a welcome ceremony at Muséplass (Muséplass square). |
| Wednesday the 14th of August, from 22:00: Outdoor Cinema at Geofysen. Wednesday evening you can experience Bergen in a completely new way. Sit down on the lawn outside the Geophysical Institute and enjoy a movie on a large screen, with Mount Ulrikken and the lake Store Lungegårdsvann in the background. The film is in English and is shown in collaboration with the Bergen International Film Festival (BIFF). |
| Thursday, 15th of August, from 10:00 to 17:00: Student fare! The student welfare organization Sammen is holding a student fare. Pop by Grieghallen to see if you can find your student organization! Here you have a unique chance to find out what you want to do in your spare time. You can talk to, ask questions and get to know the student organizations in Bergen. |
| Friday, 16th of August, from 17:00: Hallaien Welcome concert for students! As a spectacular ending to the welcome week, all students in Bergen are invited to a large outdoor concert at Koengen! Find link to tickets in MittUiB. |
Saturday, 17th of August, from 12:00 to 16:00: Kvarteret, Bergen's largest student house, invites you to join in on your favorite activity - or try something completely new! Choose between silent disco, yoga, speed friending, quiz and karaoke, among other things. |
All week: The University Museum invites you to "AI - friend or enemy?". An interactive, entertaining and educational presentation of our ambivalence towards artificial intelligence. It is made by students and consists of five installations that the public walk through, where they are exposed to both scary and positive impressions of what KI can do during arrival week. Free entry for students. |

Where are we?
UiB are spread throughtout the city, and the Faculty of Psychology belongs to Christies gate 12 in the city sentre, Alrek Helseklynge in Årstad og BB-bygget. Additionally, the Library for Social Sciences, Music and Psychology is in Fosswinckelsgate 14. You'll most likely visit other faculties thorughout you study time. You can use Mazemap for navigation on-campus and find all the locations of the university. During your welcomming week, you'll be offered an guided tour of the building.

Facts about the Faculty of Psychology
Take part in student life at the Faculty of Psychology!
Participating in student life at the Faculty of Psychology gives you several social arenas, exciting experiences, and new friends across across cohorts and study programs. The Psychological student organisation (PSF) consists of 26 different groups in total with several sports or hobby groups, a student bar, a social commitee and other groups working with academic projects.
