Kjersti Fløttum with keynote speech on "Climate Stories" in Brussels

On 21st September 2021, Kjersti Fløttum held a keynote speech at "Thinker's Cycle: The Language of Debate and Communication on Climate Change" at the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts in Brussels.

Kjersti Fløttum, head of the cross-disciplinary LINGCLIM research group and CLIMLIFE project, was invited by the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts to hold a keynote speech at "Thinker's Cycle: The Language of Debate and Communication on Climate Change" in Brussels, 21.09.2021. In her presentation "Climate stories – from science and politics to citizens’ opinions", Fløttum gave a short introduction of the cross-disciplinary research group LINGCLIM and the ongoing CLIMLIFE research project, before describing various constructions of "climate stories" in different genres, including personal stories in text answers to open-ended survey questions. The conference's other keynote "The media climate: public communication about climate change in news and social media" was held by Mike S. Schäfer (University of Zurich), who is part of the Scientific Advisory Comittee of the CLIMLIFE research project.
