Fieldwork to Drøbak (May 2018)
Sea slugs of southern Norway kicks off with a field trip to Drøbak, Oslo fjord
Main content
Between the 6–15 of May the first fieldtrip of our project on the diversity of the sea slugs from southern Norway took place around Drøbak (Oslo fjord). A party of five people, namely Nils Aukan (citizen scientist from Kristiansund), Torkild Bakken (NTNU, Trondheim), Cessa Rauch, Anders Schouw, and Manuel Malaquias (University of Bergen) formed the core of the team which was joined by several local enthusiastic citizen scientists namely Tine Kvamme, Roy Dahl, and Heine Tøffen, all of them actively collaborating with us from the very beginning of this project. Much work still needs to be done to confirm the identity of several of the collected species, in some cases involving DNA barcoding, but our preliminary list resulted in 39 species which is about 1/3 of the known sea slug diversity in Norway. Not a bad start!
