New article by Dr. Hege Toje titled “The territorialisation of water in the north-western Caucasus” is published in Caucasus Survey. The article looks at a conflict over spring water on the outskirts of stanitsa Zakubanskaya, Kuban Cossack settlement in the Russian federal region of Krasnodar kray. Through analyzing the conflict, the article looks at different modes of appropriation and at the spatial politics in the region that is linked to privatization, religion and ethno-politics.
