Uwitec Piston corer

The Uwitec piston corer with re-entry system enables long sediment cores at water depths up to 140 m. The coring system is operated from a raft using electrically powered winches. The corer itself consist of 2 m long 90 mm PVC liners in a stainless steel liner, and the stationary piston system makes the operator able to retrieve contiguous 2 m sections. The corer has a rubber sleeve core catcher, and may be operated with up to 100 kg hammer weight. The Uwitec piston corer has been shown to successfully obtain up to 50 m long sediment cores.
