Mål og innhald
Through participation in the daily operations of a development/government/research organization, student will experience, develop understanding of, and reflect critically on professional/academic practices. The student will perform relevant research and/or policy relevant work under the guidance of experienced researchers, analysts, and mentors in the host institution, performing duties agreed to in an Internship Agreement. As part of the internship, time will be set aside with the internship mentor at the host institution for discussions about the student's experiences, and the institution's experiences with the student.
Students apply for internships at our partner institutions. Currently, our partner institutions includes Bergen Kommune, CMI (Chr. Michelsen Institute), HK-dir (Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills), NORCE, NORAD, The Rafto Foundation for Human Rights, Veyt Carbon and UN Global Compact.

- Is able to reflect on how the host institution benefited from the students existing competences, and explain how the internship has developed those competences further.

Seminar and Hands-on experience working in a professional setting
Total workload in the internship workplace is stipulated to 12 weeks, 5 workdays per week, 37,5 working hours per week.
Obligatorisk undervisningsaktivitet
The student must complete the requirements of the internship Agreement, and the partner institution must confirm that the requirements have been met.
In addition to the working hours dedicated to the internship workplace, the students will submit a final report and present the findings in a seminar at UiB at the end of the internship
The compulsory assignment must be approved in order to take the exam. Approved compulsory assignments are valid in the current semester only.
Vurderingsformer
A 5000 word (+-10%, excluding the title page, table of contents, references, tables, and all attachments) internship report delivered by the end of the internship semester.
The exam answer can be submitted in English.

A retake exam is arranged for students with valid absence according to § 5-5 in the UiB regulations.
If there is a retake exam, this will be available for students with the follow results/absences:
- Medical certificate/valid absence
- Interruption during the exam
- Fail/failed
