Art exhibition at the Arboretum
In September 2023, we will host an exhibition where six contemporary artists will give the public a new and different experience of the Arboretum - from a virtual recreation of the garden to getting to experience smells and tastes from the Arboretum's flora.
Hovedinnhold
We are pleased to invite you to the exhibition “A path is a thought stretched out in time and space” at the Arboretum from 12 to 4 pm on the weekends of 9th-10th, 16th-17th, and 23-24th of September.
On Saturday 9th there will be an opening of the exhibition, a guided tour and artist talks.
Six artists show works that relate to the seasons in different ways, through new technology such as VR, as well as through inherited and revitalized craft traditions and viewing culinary traditions and indigenous seasonal architecture and technology through new lenses. The exhibition is inspired by the CALENDARS research group at UiB, which has looked at how climate change changes the rhythm and intensity of the seasons. CALENDARS organizes a symposium at the Arboretum after the exhibition’s opening weekend, which is free and open to everyone.
The exhibition is curated by Arne Skaug Olsen and the participating artists are Magnhild Øen Nordahl and Cameron MacLeod, Øyvind Novak Jenssen, Eamon O'Kane, Silje Figenschou Thoresen and Simon Daniel Tegnander Wentzel.
