Best poster prize at the medical faculty´s research day

We congratulate Marianne Hjellvik Hannisdal for this accolade, winning best poster prize at the medical faculty‘s research day, with over 30 talented phd fellows who presented their excellent research projects in the form of poster presentations!

Hovedinnhold

Using deep learning artificial intelligence to analyze MRI images from glioblastoma patients undertaking treatment in a clinical trial initiated by the research group, she discovered that there is a co-dependent change in the contrast-enhancing and non-enhancing tumor compartment over time. Certain characteristics of this co-dependency distinguish the early responders from treatment resistant patients. For the first time, we may have a novel tool for early unsupervised identification of responder patients who may benefit from more intensive or prolonged treatment. This is work that was recently published and has already shown potential impact on guidelines for how these aggressive tumors shall be treated. This prize emanates from this first paper in her PhD thesis.

The previous prize was awarded for her ongoing paper. Really well done Marianne and keep up the excellent work!
