Female Heart Workshop 2024
A fantastic and inspirational workshop of high scientific quality with participants from all over Norway and invited international experts from Spain, Italy and Iceland
Hovedinnhold
Female Heart Workshop 2024 started with an exceptional session on sex differences in management of high blood pressure. Professor Claudio Borghi from the University of Bologna lectured about sex differences in management of high blood pressure focusing on effect, adverse events and regulatory mechanisms. Consultant in nephrology Lene Halvorsen from Oslo University Hospital Ullevål presented the main results from the large national IDA study on drug adherence in patients with uncontrolled, treated hypertension. Postdoctoral fellow Trond Pettersen from the PROCARD research group at Department of Heart Disease, Haukeland University Hospital presented his study on sex differences in patient-reported drug adverse effects among patients with coronary artery disease treated with PCI.
PhD fellows from all medical faculties in Norway presented own research and had good training in managing questions and discussion with other junior and senior researchers.
The workshop also included a session focusing on using multiomics approaches for increasing the understanding of underlying mechanisms in sex differences in cardiac disease. This session was a collaboration with the EU funded COST Action AtheroNet. Professor George Kararigas from the University of Iceland presented data on sex differences in translational studies of cardiac remodelling, professor Kirsten Holve, university of oslo, presented novel data on the importance of high cholesterol for coronary artery disease in women, and postdoctoral fellow Hilde Halland at our Center presented own research on use of proteomics for disclosing pathophysiologic mechanisms of obesity-associated inflammation.
If you failed to attend, a new opportunity will come at female Heart Workshop May 8-9, 2025.
