Student organisations

The Faculty of Law has several student organisations you can be a part of during your exchange period, or while studying for an LLM, in Bergen. Read more about the organisations below.

The Law Students Union

Juristforeningen (Law Students Union) is the student association at the Faculty of Law. Its purpose is to provide the law students with a broad range of extracurricular activities within sports, culture and academics. The students can for instance join the rowing team or soccer team, be active in Fagstyret which hosts interesting lectures and «field trips» or join the marching band, Force Marsjør Juzz-Band & Fotnotene amongst many, many more.

 

Juristforeningen in Bergen has about 2000 members. A membership lasting one full year costs 100 NOK. Being a member entitles you to discounts on Juristforeningens own events, free entry to certain nightclubs (for instance where all the post-exam parties are held), discounts in many shops and restaurants, and much more. Juridisk Studentutvalg (JSU)

Juridisk Studentutvalg (JSU) is the Law Student Committee at the faculty.

JSU works to promote students' views on all matters related to teaching, studies in general and maintenance at the faculty.

ELSA

ELSA is the European Law Students' Association at the faculty.

With 32,000 members ELSA is the world's largest independent law students' association. ELSA Bergen offers many different activities to any Norwegian or exchange students wanting to be part of the law students' network in Bergen.

ELSA Bergen has its office at the faculty, you may visit them in their office, or find more information on ELSA's website.

Jussformidlingen

Jussformidlingen is an organisation run by advanced law students at The Faculty of Law, University of Bergen.

Beyond giving Norwegian law students the opportunity to gain practical experience, Jussformidlingen offers free legal aid to the public.

You may find Jussformidlingen at Sydneshaugen 10, a few streets away from the Faculty of Law.

Mino.Jur Bergen

Mino.Jur Bergen is a student organization advocating cultural understanding and creating networks among students and future employers. Mino.Jur wants to create a good academic and social environment through activities of different kinds. 
All law students interested are welcome to join.

Congregatio Forensis

Congregatio Forensis aims to create a close relation between studies and practical law in the work force. 
The organization has six different subgroups, all working to create a tighter connection between law studies and practical law.
