Fission-track laboratory

Hovedinnhold

Our fission-track laboratory is operative since 2007. The system is based on an Olympus BX51 microscope using a Kintec stage and Trevor Dumitru’s fission track software FTStage. We routinely carry out apatite and titanite fission track analyses, including track-length and Dpar measurements. All samples undergo a routine semi-quantitative F/Cl check using a Zeiss-SUPRA 55 VP SEM. We have access to both hot and cold cathode-luminescence microscopy. [to our thermochronology gallery]

Sample irradiation is carried out at the FRM II Research Facility, Garching (TU Munich), Germany.

We are working on in-situ U-measurements using LA-ICPMS (Element 2)
