Museum building given a new colour

The scaffolding around the museum building came down at the start of the year, after a renovation of the façade which has seen the building repainted in a warm grey colour.

Hovedinnhold

The colour was chosen after consultation with the Directorate for Cultural Heritage. The old windows have also been carefully restored. The restoration of the grand museum building is strengthening its profile as one of Bergen’s most magnificent buildings. The ambition is to be able to use the museum as was originally intended in 1865, as an important venue for research communication and social dialogue.

The National Council for the Museum Project was appointed on 2 March. The Council is headed by Professor Gudmund Hernes, and consists of Professor Ole Didrik Lærum, the city’s Chief Commissioner Monica Mæland, County Mayor Torill Selsvold Nyborg, former MP Reidar Sandal and Managing Director Arne Skauge. Rector Sigmund Grønmo is the Council’s secretary.
