Pope Francis is often perceived to be a "bleeding liberal" in comparison to his predecessors. He has been portrayed, particularly in the media, as a revolutionary in the Catholic Church, putting poverty on top of the Catholic agenda, and a pope who is bringing a totally new version of the Gospel to the world.
Indeed, conservative U.S. pundit, Rush Limbaugh, has labelled the teaching of Pope Francis as "pure Marxism." Is Limbaugh right and, if so, is Pope Francis indeed preaching something new? This brief exposition will seek to place Pope Francis in a larger, political and theological context.

This is an event in the Global Semminar Series at UiB Global.

All are welcome!
