Renmin University of China’s School of Economics visits the Department of Economics
The Department of Economics and the Faculty of Social Sciences have hosted a meeting with delegates from Renmin University of China, School of Economics, to explore opportunities of student and staff exchange between the two universities.

On Wednesday September 3rd the Department of Economics and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Bergen were happy to host a meeting with a delegation from Renmin University of China, School of Economics.
The aim of the meeting was to explore opportunities of student and staff exchange between the two schools.
– A good start for future cooperation
Professor Jan Erik Askildsen, Head of Department of Economics at the University of Bergen lead the meeting.
– It is of great interest for Department of Economics and Faculty of Social Sciences to extend our relations to universities in China, and Renmin University stands out as a very good cooperating partner. It is a leading Chinese university with an academic profile that should provide good possibilities for student and research exchange between the two institutions. This meeting is a good start for future cooperation, says professor Jan Erik Askildsen.
Student and research exchange
Fredrik Sagafos, International Coordinator and counselor provided an overview of the Department’s and the Faculty’s international profile and current academic exchange opportunities.
Representatives from the Department’s three research groups were also attending the meeting, and presented their groups’ research scopes.
Professor Tommy S. Gabrielsen represented the research group Firms and markets, Professor Arild Aakvik represented the group Welfare, social insurance and health and professor Eirik S. Amundsen represented the group Natural resources, environmental and development economics.
