Arnesen leads an international research team that has moved to the Department of Biomedicine in Fall 2017. Their work focusses on enzymes that perform post-translational modifications, namely N-terminal acetylation. This is a process that influences protein levels, function and localisation in the cells, and also affects hormonal regulation and cancer.
The title of the ERC-praised project is fittingly "Discovery and functional significance of posttranslational N-terminal acetylation". The European Reseach Council will now support this project with around two million Euro for up to five years.
