I studied System Dynamics because it is interdisciplinary, analytical, requires slow/deep thinking and more holistic approaches.

What is your best memories from the System Dynamics studies in Bergen?

I enjoyed Pål Davidsens course GEO-SD303 and listening to his analysis and insights that could be taken from from the cases in the course. I have warm memories from the late nights with my study group to be able to meet the thight deadlines.

I also enjoyd all the courses with Birgit Kopainsky - the great structure, clarity and inspiration.

What did you study in your project?

The transition to electric vehicles in the US

What is your current occupation?

I am actively involved in data gathering, wrangling and visualization for urban planning purposes.

My responsibilities are:

  • Supporting urban planning teams with data analysis
  • Participating in the team developing housing and population projections

How are the System Dynamics studies of relevance for you in your work?

The training in systems thinking has allowed me to further develop my analytical skills and has left me with a broader perspective on how systems interact and with a larger skillset in problem solving.

  • Experience in data gathering, wrangling and visualization
  • Experience in being methodogical and famailiarity with good methods to approach problems and analysis

What is your advice to new System Dynamics students?

Lean into the framework and support provided by the staff and SD community at UiB. The program is very well organised and adapted to support learning, collaboration and community.
