Projects

The research group for Energy and Process Technology (EPT) is involved in several research initiatives, research projects, and international networks.

Main content

EPT coordinates various project proposals and other initiatives:

  • Prosa21 – Process Safety in the Twenty-first Century: A survey targeting practitioners in the field of process safety and related areas.  
  • NORISS – Norwegian Infrastructure for Safety and Security (submitted 15 November 2023) 
  • SFI-V Prosa21 – Process Safety in the Twenty-First Century: An initiative for a Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI-V) coordinated by EPT (work in progress) 

EPT coordinates several projects:

  • HySchool – Norwegian research school on hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels (2022-2030). 
  • JIP HyRISE – Risk-reduction for hydrogen installations by partial suppression of explosions (2021-2026) 
  • SH2IPS – Safe Hydrogen Implementation: Pre-normative research for Ships (2021-2028) 
  • HySociety – Hydrogen as an energy carrier in society: risk picture, risk awareness and public acceptance (2021-2027) 
  • HySALA – Hydrogen Safety Laboratory 

EPT is also partner in various other projects:

  • FME HyValue – Norwegian Centre for Hydrogen Research (2022-2030), coordinated by NORCE. 
  • KPN SH2IFT-2 – Safe Hydrogen Fuel Handling and Use for Efficient Implementation 2 (2021 - 2025), coordinated by SINTEF. 
  • KSP Hy4GET – Large-Scale Offshore Hydrogen Storage for Green Energy Transition (2023-2027), coordinated by SINTEF.
  • KSP AmPEP – Ammonia Production via Electrocatalytic Processes, coordinated by the Department of Chemistry, UiB.

EPT is active partner in various international networks, including:

  • IEA Hydrogen TCP Task 43 – Energy Agency Hydrogen Technology Collaboration Programme Task 43 on Hydrogen Safety.
  • IA HySafe – International Association for Hydrogen Safety (IA HySafe)
  • ECHA – European Clean Hydrogen Alliance
  • FABIG – Fire And Blast Information Group
  • IHEC – International Hydrogen Energy Centre, under the auspices of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
