Core time (Kjernetid)

Core time is working time during which all employees must normally be present.

The core time is from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Flex time (Fleksitid)

Flextime is the period of time when the individual can decide for themselves when to start/stop their work, within the framework of what has been agreed with superiors. Apprentices must clarify how they can use flextime, within the work tasks they have at any given time.

Flextime is outside core time, from 6.00 AM and until 21.00 PM Monday to Friday.

The terms and conditions for flexible working hours follow from the Special Agreement on flexible working hours in the state.

Offers for VET apprentices

You should be happy as an apprentice, that is important to us.

Gatherings

UiB works to create a good professional and social environment, and you will experience getting to know and having a community with all the other apprentices at UiB, across subjects.

Throughout the apprenticeship, we have both academic and social gatherings. Examples of gatherings can, to name a few, be Kick-off days, HSE courses, jobseeker courses, as well as Christmas parties and summer parties.

Professional/academic development

We facilitate good professional development so that you can get a certificate after completing your apprenticeship.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will gradually gain more independent work and experience on the job, and you will be assigned a subject manager who will ensure that training and tasks are arranged according to your curriculum. The subject manager has extensive experience with the profession and the industry.

Exchange abroad

As an apprentice at UiB, you have the opportunity to go on exchange abroad during the apprenticeship.

Welfare offers

As an apprentice at UiB, you can make use of all welfare offers provided to employees. This includes, among other things:

  • Exersice during working hours (must be agreed with the workplace manager).
  • Discount at the Sammen training centre.
  • Cheap cinema tickets.
  • Rent of company cabins.

... and much more.

Why do we want to hire VET apprentices?

At UiB there is a long and good tradition of participating in and taking responsibility for training by taking in apprentices and following them up.

This is something we think is both fun - and important! Apprentices are an important community resource that we must look after and promote. And our experience is that apprentices can bring new knowledge into the company.

The video below also paints a good picture of the fact that good craftsmanship is so much more than what we first think about.
