The new Centre of Excellence is poised to become a world-leading research environment that will attract and train new talent for years to come.

Applied research at BCEPS

To date, researchers at BCEPS have mainly conducted applied research of relevance for governments, ministries of health, and multilateral organisations such as the WHO and the World Bank.

Ground-breaking foundational research at the Centre for Ethics and Priority Setting in Health

The long-term goal of the new Centre of Excellence is to see decision makers empowered by evidence and guidance to achieve better and more legitimate priority setting. Our vision is better health for all, more fairly distributed. This is well aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals: to promote good health and well-being (SDG3), reduce inequality (SDG10), and contribute to reducedpoverty (SDG1).

During the course of 2020, the proposed centre directors and principal investigators contributed to five articles on priority setting in top-ranking journals: New England Journal of Medicine, Science, JAMA, Nature Medicine, and The Lancet.

The group is thus well placed to influence the direction of ethical priority setting research for years to come.
