The seminar will be in Norwegian and will aim to shed light on what is required to create a greater national impetus to achieve a better knowledge base before public health measures are implemented.
See the NIPH website for more detailed information in Norwegian.
Summary in English:
- The morning session of the seminar will look at the conclusions drawn from a 4-year project financed by the Norwegian Research Council: Inclusive Evaluation of Public Health Interventions.
- In the afternoon, the focus will be on public health interventions during a pandemic, where questions about the effects of infection control measures have been met with great public interest and debate during the Covid-19 pandemic.
These measures have affected much of society, with a high level of uncertainty with regard to short-term and long-term consequences. Lack of knowledge has made it difficult for central authorities to implement good evaluations of the proportionality between the benefit and costs of infection control measures.
The challenges that the pandemic has highlighted are also relevant for assessments of other types of public health measures that cover large parts of the population. The seminar will be based on the experiences of several sectors and present insights from three major initiatives that have been carried out under the auspices of the National Institute of Public Health and the University of Bergen.
