Call for funding for collaboration in CHARM-EU

Would you like to develop new collaborations with partners in the CHARM alliance or share online courses with students at all CHARM universities? Then you can apply for funding by November 15th.

Main content

Since 2023, UiB has been a member of the European university alliance CHARM-EU. The alliance is one of 64 European university alliances, a flagship initiative in the European strategy for higher education.

In addition to UiB, eight universities are partners in the alliance: University of Barcelona, Trinity College Dublin, Utrecht University, Eötvös Loránd University, University of Montpellier, Åbo Akademi University, Julius-Maximilians-Universität of Würzburg, and Hochschule Ruhr West.

UiB aims to facilitate the development of new collaborations with partner universities and contribute to the alliance’s work in establishing an online course catalog for students.

Two internal calls are available for UiB employees with an application deadline of November 15th.

Call for funding 1: Seed funding for the development of academic collaborations with CHARM partners

Goal: UiB aims to encourage new collaborations with our CHARM-EU partner institutions.

About the call

  • Kr 100 000 - you can apply for up kr 20 000
  • Application deadline: November 15th 2024 - Link to application form
  • The project can be carried out until June 2025
  • After completion, a short report must be submitted (maximum 1 page). The report should include concrete results such as a draft of a joint project, a concrete plan for joint activities, an agreement on the exchange of lecturers, etc.

What can you achieve from collaborating with CHARM partners?

  • You can reach a diverse and broad group of academics and students

  • You can enhance your academic career through the European alliance

  • You can contribute to cross-cultural exchange

  • You can strengthen the development and impact of your own research and teaching

The seed funding can be combined with Erasmus funds (approximately 1000 Euros per mobility) with priority for travel to CHARM partners. More information: Erasmus+ staff mobility for training

Call for funding 2: Development or adaptation of courses for CHARM-EU’s online course catalog

Goal: UiB aims to facilitate that academic communities can make courses available to students at partner universities in CHARM-EU. Students can apply for online courses in the spring and fall semester.

About the call

Funds can be used to develop new courses or make necessary changes to existing courses. The latter can, for example, involve creating an English version of a Norwegian course, facilitating hybrid participation in regular courses, or providing support to accommodate more students in the course.

  • Kr. 100 000 - you can apply for parts of the sum or the whole sum
  • Application deadline November 15th. Link to application form
  • The project can be carried out until June 2025
  • UiB will prioritize courses that can be offered more than once
  • After completion, a short report must be submitted (maximum 1 page). The report should include concrete results on development of online courses for the CHARM course catalog.

What type of courses can be offered in the online course catalog

  • English courses (also Spanish, French and German)
  • Online or hybrid courses
  • BA-, MA- or PhD-level (not continuing education courses)
  • All disciplines

All students at CHARM universities can apply for the online course catalog. Participation is conducted as ‘virtual mobility’ so that students can apply to have the course approved as part of their degree at their own institution.
