The BISC 2019 Call for abstracts has now been published!
Main content
Bergen International Student Conference 2019
Our time is characterized by global shifts: resource depletion, overconsumption and climate change, poverty and rising inequalities are just some of the challenges that societies around the world are currently facing. Achieving a sustainable future call for urgent transformations at every level of society, and the window of opportunity is rapidly closing. Sustainable development requires collaboration and knowledge-sharing that crosses disciplines and borders. We therefore invite undergraduate and postgraduate students from all countries and academic disciplines to participate in this important dialogue at the second Bergen International Student Conference.
We invite contributions related (but not limited) to the following questions:
- What are the barriers to and opportunities for achieving sustainable development, seen from your disciplinary viewpoint?
- What practices do we need to change on the way towards sustainable futures, and how?
- What does a desirable future look like? Is a desirable future necessarily a sustainable future?
Dates and venue: 28–29 March 2019 in Bergen, Norway
Call for contributions: Send your abstracts by February 3, 2019
Contact: Submit your abstracts to collaboratory@uib.no.
Contribution guidelines: The abstract should not be longer than 500 words and can be written in English, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish. Your submission can be based upon a thesis, course paper, field project or other academic work that you have written or are currently working on. At the conference, the abstract will form the basis of a short presentation, which will be followed by informal and interactive group discussions between all participants. There is no fee for attending the conference, but we urge participants to seek out financial assistance regarding accommodation and travel expenses at their home institutions. For more information, please visit the conference webpage, the Facebook page or send us an email at collaboratory@uib.no.
