Treatment

At the Student Clinic we welcome patients that after an examination and evaluation can be found suitable for clinical education. The patients will be given information about the terms and conditions for treatment at the Student Clinic and will have to give their consent to this. The treatment will be carried out after according to a pretreatment plan and under guidance and control by dentists and clinical instructors. Compared to dental treatment at a regular dental clinic, the treatment made at the Student Clinic usually will be more time consuming. The treatment methods and quality of the treatment is done according to what is internationally accepted in modern dentistry at any given time. The fees at the Student Clinic are estimated to cover material expenses and clinical draping and will therefore be below the fares at the public dental clinics and private practices.

At the Specialist clinic(s) we receive patients by referral from general dental practioners or medical doctors for more extensive examinations and treatments. In some cases, an interdisciplinary approach to the various issues is necessary. The treatment will be done by dentists undergoing specialist training under instructions by specialists. It can also be necessary with cooperation with hospitals. Patients being referred to Department of Clinical Dentistry’s Specialist Clinic, can also be treated at The Public Dental Service’s Competence Center West, dept. Hordaland. The fees for treatment done at the Specialist Clinic(s) is estimated to be around 15% higher than the fares set by Public Insurance.

For some treatments done at the University Dental Clinic it is possible to get a refund/ grant from the Public Insurance/ Helfo. For more information about this, please read the Fee Poster at the University Dental Clinic.
