Do you wonder how to use images in teaching, research and assignments according to copyright rules? This course provides practical advice and goes through the most basic rules and exceptions for reusing photography.

The course examines common problems that arise in image research. This includes how to find images for research and assignments, licenses and permission to use images as well as how to understand privacy guidelines. This course is primarily grounded on UiB's own sources at the Picture Collection, and will also provide examples of external sources.

  • Image search in practice: tips for image search, use of archives and databases, available resources at UiB, how to work with copyright and source criticism
  • How to use an archive: intro to the Picture Collection, use of images from the collections
  • Copyright in everyday life: examples showing common scenarios - from privacy to image theft and AI
