3. Thesis year

All of our master’s programmes have a duration of two years. Generally one full year of the programme is devoted to writing your master’s thesis. This means you have an entire year to delve deep into a field and focus on the research that you’re truly passionate about. While the thesis is your independent scientific work, you will have your own academic supervisor guiding your efforts throughout the second year.

4. Private working space

Master’s students at UiB get access to a private desk within their faculty during their two-year programme. Some even get their own working space in shared departmental offices. These offer you the opportunity to connect with other students in your faculty, as well as providing a stable study area where you needn’t compete with other students for space.

5. International learning environment

The University of Bergen has earned a reputation as Norway’s most international university. UiB has over 30 years of experience in building relationships and cooperating with international universities. This focus is reflected in our staff, students and research. Almost 12 % of our students, and more than 20% of UiB staff are originally from another country than Norway. We host close to 2000 international students here at UiB. All of this creates a truly international and dynamic learning environment.
