Withdrawal from your Exchange at UiB
Each semester, some students have to withdraw from their exchange for different reasons. Here are some important things to remember if you withdraw from your exchange at UiB.

1 Write to UiB and your Home University
It is very important that you notify both UiB and your home university about your withdrawal.
Notify UiB at: incoming@uib.no
You do not have to provide a reason for why you are withdrawing. There are no consequences for withdrawing.
2 Cancellation of Tenancy Agreement/House Contract
Your withdrawal from UiB is NOT the same as cancelling your tenancy agreement/house contract. You are responsible for notifying Sammen about your withdrawal: bolig@sammen.no
The cancellation deadline for Spring 2025 is 30 November.
The tenancy agreement is a legal binding agreement between the student and SAMMEN. We strongly advise you to read the document carefully and get familiarized with the terms and conditions given in the contract.
When you sign your tenancy agreement, you are bound to pay for your apartment for the whole rental period:
autumn semester: 5 months of payment
spring semester: 6 or 7 months of payment
How to cancel your tenancy agreement before the deadline 30 November:
- Notify Sammen by email: bolig@sammen.no
- Notify also UiB by email (incoming@uib.no) so that we can confirm the withdrawal.
If you need to withdraw for exchange after the deadline 30 November:
- Notify Sammen by email as soon as possible: bolig@sammen.no
- Hopefully Sammen will be able to find someone who can take over your room. If this is not possible, it will be your responsibility to pay for the room.
- UiB is not responsible for the tenancy agreements of students who withdraw from their exchange after the cancellation deadline.
- Cancellations after the deadline will be subjected to SAMMEN cancellation policies and regulations. SAMMEN is a separate organization, and we cannot interfere with SAMMEN’s cancellation policies and regulations.
