Health and Society

The teaching group is responsible for the Master's Program in Health and Society, where students learn about complex challenges within health and healthcare services, as well as in health- and society-related research. Group leader: Silje Mæland.

The Teaching Group Health and Society is part of the Section of Health Sciences at the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, University of Bergen. The group has nine academic staff members.

The group's primary responsibility is to run the Master's programme in Health and Society. Based on current competency needs, the program's goal is to educate students with advanced knowledge about complex challenges within health and health services and in health and society-related research. Educating students with high-quality theoretical and methodological competence is a central part of this goal. The program is further anchored in a vision of using learning and teaching methods that foster creative and critical thinking and learning. A consistent feature of the program is to facilitate the interplay between students' educational and experiential backgrounds and new knowledge.
