INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP on the SONGS of EDVARD GRIEG
In connection with the conference “EDVARD GRIEG and the HUMAN VOICE", The Grieg Academy, University of Bergen and The International Grieg Society facilitates an INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP on the SONGS of EDVARD GRIEG. The workshop and conference will take place during the Bergen International Festival in Edvard Grieg’s home town and location of the composer’s villa at Troldhaugen.

THE CONFERENCE - May 29th - 31st - will include international
researchers, performers and others presenting papers,
lecture-demonstrations and performances related to the main theme
“Edvard Grieg and the Human Voice”. See www.griegsociety.org for an
updated program for the conference. The conference language is English.
THE WORKSHOP - May 28th -31st at the Grieg Academy - will involve
singers and pianists (students, teachers and professionals) who are
interested in learning more about Edvard Grieg’s songs. It will partly
overlap with the conference and some lectures/activities will be part of
the workshop. The singers/pianists will take part in performing Grieg’s
songs of their choice sung in the original languages - Norwegian
(Bokmål/Nynorsk) and German – and be coached by internationally
acclaimed vocal/piano teachers from Norway.
The workshop will consist of informal, open teaching sessions and
performance opportunities, including selected performances in Grieg’s
villa, with its Steinway grand of 1885. A detailed schedule will be made
prior to the workshop.
