Project leader

Henriette Nilsson Tøssebro is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Bergen (UiB). Tøssebro defended a PhD thesis on reversal of administrative decisions in early 2020, and has published in the fields of constitutional and administrative law, criminal law, and methodology. She is also the editor-in-chief of the journal Kritisk juss. Her research interests notably revolve around interdisciplinary studies with a particular emphasis on vulnerable groups and unresolved legal issues. Tøssebro has practical legal experience as a deputy judge at the Bergen District Court and as a lawyer for the Bergen Municipal Attorney. She has also served as a board member in the Immigration Appeals Board and as a legal member of the Regional Committee for Medical and Health Research Ethics.

Project researchers

Dr. K.V.K. Santhy (co-leader) is an Associate Professor at the Nalsar University of Law, India. She defended a PhD on punishement an sentencing in 2007, and has published more than 30 research articles within criminal law and related areas. Santhy is also an experienced teacher, and has trained law students, judges, prosecutors, and police officials on various aspects of criminal law. She has also been a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute of Foreign and International Criminal Law, and been involved in four major research projects, one being on sentencing trends in India.

Dr. Abhishek Sharma Padmanabhan is an independent legal scholar. He holds a Doctorate in Law and Forensics from CHRIST University, and his areas of competence include Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Criminology, Forensic Sciences and Labour Law.

In addition, two PhD research fellows and a scientific assistant will be recruited to the project group.
