Herbarium BG

Herbarium BG holds collections of vascular plants, mosses, algae, lichens and other fungi. It contains a total of around 535 000 preserved specimens that are the result of nearly 200 years of collecting activities around the world with a special focus on in Western Norway.

Main content

The herbarium collections provide a geographical documentation of the flora over time and make up an important data bank of biodiversity. The material is available for study by national and international researchers and is used mainly in taxonomic, systematic, phylogenetic and floristic studies.

Vascular Plant Herbarium

The Nordic Vascular Plant Herbarium includes around 215 000 specimens from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Svalbard, Jan Mayen and Bear Island.
