Stein Rokkan Memorial Lecture 2010

Bo Rothstein is August Röhss Professor in Political Science at Göteborg University in  Sweden. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Lund in 1986. He was assistent and associate professor at the Department of Political Science at Uppsala University between 1986 to 1995. He has been a visiting scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation, Cornell University, Harvard University, Collegium Budapest, and at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Among his publications in English are The Social Democratic State: The Swedish Model and the Bureaucratic Problems of Social Reforms  (University of Pittsburgh Press 1996); Just Institutions Matters: The Moral and Political Logic of the Universal Welfare State (Cambridge University Press 1998), Restructuring the Welfare State (edited volume together with Sven Steinmo, Palgrave/Macmillan 2003) and Creating Social Trust in Post-Socialist Societies (ed. volume together with Janos Kornai and Susan Rose-Ackerman, Palgrave Macmillan 2004).

His articles have appeared in journals such as Comparative Politics, The Journal of Theoretical Politics, Politics & Society, Rationality and Society and Comparative Political Studies.  He is a regular contributor in the Swedish public debate.
