About the network
UIB’s network for marine plastic pollution (“plastnettverket”) embraces cross-disciplinary research around plastic and microplastic pollution in our oceans. This encompasses the investigation of the presence, spread and effects of plastic pollution in our oceans, as well as its societal, legal and health implications.
Main content
The UiB Plastics network brings together researchers and students from all the university's departments, working on problems related to plastic pollution.
The Focus lies on ocean plastics. The network will contribute to the university's goals concerning Sustainability goal 14, Life below water, where plastic pollution plays an important part.
Education, research and innovation will contribute in solving the problems. The strenghts of the university's knowledge across disciplines will provide research based knowledge on topics as diverse as health related consequences, new technologies and global law concerns.
