Simone Grassini is an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychosocial Science, University of Bergen. His research is highly interdisciplinary and spans across several fields of cognitive and experimental psychology. He specializes in environmental psychology/neuroscience and human-computer interaction, focusing on how people interact with both natural and artificial environments.
Grassini's work explores the psychological and physiological effects of modern technologies like virtual reality, as well as the benefits of nature exposure. Recently, he has begun investigating human-AI interactions, particularly in creative domains, seeking to understand how people perceive and use artificial intelligence tools.
Currently, Grassini leads several projects examining AI-generated art perception, nature exposure in virtual settings, and the use of immersive technologies for well-being. He's also involved in international research consortia, including EU-funded initiatives.
Grassini employs a range of methods in his research, from EEG and psychophysiological markers to traditional psychological and behavioral experiments as well as studying involving questionnaires and interviews. He teaches courses on environmental psychology, research methods, human factors, and biological psychology, while actively supervising student projects and theses at all levels.
