Making data FAIR - Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable - is a key component in increasing the robustness of scientific research. The principles should be adopted from the start of any project with a plan of where any data, metadata, and code generated are to be archived. The gathering and compilation of data thus need to be compatible with the research discipline's guidelines.

The Between the Fjords group which connects a number of externally funded research projects (SeedClim, FunCaB, LandPress, INCLINE, EMERALD, HiddenCosts, ThreeD, DRIVE) has developed a data-sharing agreement as a first step in making research FAIR and the ERC Advanced Grant HOPE also has a data management plan in place.
