The purpose of the thesis is to establish a refined sedimentological facies model of the Kobbe Formation in the Goliat Field and the Alke Discovery. Sedimentological field work will be carried out in Sørkapp Land and in central parts of Spitsbergen. This is the only known area with outcrops of proximal facies of Anisian-Ladinian sandstone. This outcrop is suggested to be an analogue to the reservoir section in the Goliat Field, which will be used as input to the reservoir modelling. The proximal sandstone section will then be compared with more distal facies development in an outcrop from the central part of Spitsbergen.
