Project Members

PI: Siv-Elin Leirvåg Carlsen, PhD: Head of the Psychosocial Interventions for Addictions (PIA) research team at AFR, HUS. Carlsen has extensive research experience with OAT patients, including participation in the NTX-BUP study. Additionally, Carlsen has organized studies on social variables affecting quality of life and oral health. As Principal Investigator (PI), Carlsen will coordinate the research, manage the overall project, ensure compliance with protocol, and lead the research. The PI will conduct the qualitative study.

Zhanna Gaulen, PhD: Senior researcher at AFR, HUS. Gaulen has extensive research experience with OAT patients, including involvement in multi-centre studies, such as NTX-BUP and the NaltRec studies. She contributed to the data collection in a cross-sectional study focusing on oral health-related quality of life that was nested to the INTRO-HCV study. Gaulen will lead the pilot study and act as a Co-PI, where she will assist the PI with study design, implementation, and data analysis, support data collection and other research activities (scheduling, communication, and documentation).

Lars T. Fadnes, MD, PhD: Specialist in general practice, senior researcher, and head of the Bergen Addiction Research at AFR, HUS. Fadnes is also a professor at the UiB with expertise in epidemiology focusing on addiction, public health, and some experience related to dental health. He has led several RCTs such as INTRO-HCV study and is involved in cohort studies, registries, and epidemiological methods. Fadnes will contribute to the design, planning, analyses, and writing of the study.

Anne-Kristin N. Åstrøm, PhD: Professor of community dentistry at the Department of Clinical Dentistry, UiB, and a researcher at the Oral Health Centre of Expertise in Western Norway. Åstrøm has extensive international research experience in epidemiology, preventive dentistry, and public oral health. Åstrøm will be involved in all phases of the study. 

Siri Flagestad Kvalheim, PhD: Associate professor and specialist in oral prosthetics at the Department of Clinical Dentistry, UiB. Kvalheim will contribute to the study’s design, planning, and writing.  

Lathamini Murugesh: Chief Dental Officer of Vestland County, responsible for organizing and delivering public dental health care services and coordinating with OAT services. Murugesh will contribute to the study’s design and planning.

Christine Lønne: Head of the Department of the user organisation proLARNett in Bergen, Hordaland. Lønne will provide expertise based on experience and advise on the planning, design, interpretation, and dissemination of results.

Einar Furulund, Ph.D. Candidate, RKT Rogaland: has experience with RCTs from the ATLAS4LAR study. Furulund will contribute to the planning, analyses, and writing, and dissemination of the results. In addition, Furulund will oversee the pilot site in Stavanger.  

Torgeir Gilje Lid, MD PhD: Research leader at KORFOR, Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research at Stavanger University Hospital, and associate professor II at Faculty of Health Sciences, UiS. Lid has extensive clinical experience from primary care, specialized drug treatment and community medicine. His research focuses on health behaviours in specialised drug treatment and on alcohol-related health problems. Lid will particularly be involved in the design, analyses, and writing.
