On Friday 01/09, CSD team member Hau Trung Dang successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "Simulation of fracture slip and propagation in hydraulic stimulation of geothermal reservoirs".

The Winter School hosted by the Center for Modeling of Coupled Subsurface Dynamics held in Myrkdalen from March 13-17 in 2023 was a great success!

Ingrid Kristine Jacobsen is a new Ph.D. student at the Department of Mathematics and her project is part of the Center for Modeling of Coupled Subsurface Dynamics. We met her to find out more about her background and the project.

On the 29th and 30th of March 2022, VISTA CSD team members at UiB assembled in Solstrand to discuss research plans and progress of research activities under CSD. Volker Oye from NORSAR joined us as a collaborating partner. As a guest speaker, Assoc. Prof. Bjarte Hannisdal from the Department of Earth Science gave a talk on earth systems and challenges they face.

The Department of Mathematics (UiB) offers a 3-year postdoc position in the field of computational mathematics. The position is integrated in the recently established VISTA CSD.

Maren Kjos Karlsen is starting her position as a PhD research fellow at the Department of Earth Science. Her work will focus on the seismic activity around injection sites. The project is a part of UiB’s strategic work on climate and energy transition and will be part of the Center for Modeling of Coupled Subsurfaces Dynamics.
