We welcome Andreas Hösli back to UiB!
About Andreas:
Ph.D. candidate Andreas Hösli is originally from Zurich, Switzerland, and graduated from the University of Zurich in 2011. After that, he was admitted to the Swiss Bar and worked as an Attorney, focusing on civil and criminal litigation. For the past three years, he has been in Denmark (University of Copenhagen) and Norway (University of Oslo) as a visiting researcher. In his free time, he enjoys participating in sports and appreciating nature.
About the Ph.D. project:
In 2019, inspired by an LL.M. in Sydney (UNSW), he started a PhD project at the University of Zurich. Cutting across the fields of corporate law and international climate change law, the thesis looks at how the duty of care owed by company directors deals with emerging climate change risks. His supervisors are Prof. Christine Kaufmann, University of Zurich, and Prof. Beate Sjåfjell (University of Oslo)
We asked Andreas why he chose to come to UiB for a research visit:
"I came to UiB because of a very positive previous experience during a short visit in October 2022, where I gave a presentation on corporate climate litigation (see the link on Youtube). I hope to approach the completion of my Ph.D. thesis in an inspiring, friendly, and calm environment at UiB. Although I won't have too much time for that, I hope to explore Bergen and its surroundings and enjoy it at this beautiful time of the year."
We wish Andreas the best of luck with the project!
